I recently had the privilege of spending an evening at the brand-new headquarters of the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition, and honestly, it was one of those moments where you feel the power of community in the room. Hearing Orvin Kimbrough and Sterling K. Brown speak about their experiences with foster care and the extraordinary compassion of mothers like Aralean Brown was unforgettable.

 

Her legacy lives on in a profound way, through the newly launched Aralean Brown Older Youth Readiness Fund, which invests in education, housing, and skilled-trade training for youth aged 13–24. These are the same pillars we champion every day in the trades. When a young person discovers a craft and earns a credential, it doesn’t just change their resume—it changes their identity and the entire direction of their life.

Variety, The Children’s Charity: Bikes for Kids

There’s nothing quite like volunteering with my son, Remy, and my bonus son, Ranger, at the Variety Therapeutic Bike Giveaway. Together, we helped assemble bikes and deliver them into the hands of some incredible kids. Seeing a child’s face light up as they receive their very first bike—often designed specifically for their needs—is pure magic. Sharing that experience with my boys made it even more meaningful, reinforcing the idea that giving back is a privilege we should never take for granted.

Explore The Trades

There is a unique kind of pride that comes from working with your hands and mastering a craft. As a Trustee for Explore The Trades, I’ve seen firsthand how a career in plumbing, HVAC, or electrical can completely change a young person’s life. We are dedicated to showing students a path to a rewarding, essential, and high-impact career. For us, preparing the next generation of pros isn’t just about business; it’s about ensuring the future of our community stays built on a solid foundation.

Pedal the Cause

In St. Louis, we take care of our own, and nothing proves that like seeing thousands of cyclists hit the pavement for Pedal the Cause. Whether we are sponsoring riders or cheering from the sidelines, we are honored to help fund the critical cancer research happening at Siteman Cancer Center and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Every dollar stays right here in our city, fueled by the belief that if we keep pedaling together, we can eventually cross the finish line toward a cure.

Maplewood Bicycle Team

Life is better when you’re moving, and the Maplewood Bicycle Team embodies everything we love about local sports: teamwork, health, and a bit of healthy competition. We are proud sponsors of this community-driven group because they inspire riders of all ages to get outside and push their limits. Seeing the team represent St. Louis reminds us that when you have a strong team behind you, you can go further than you ever could alone.

The St. Louis Bocce Club

Some traditions are worth protecting, and the St. Louis Bocce Club is a perfect example of how sport can bridge the gap between generations. Whether it’s a spirited match or a casual afternoon at the courts, the camaraderie and cultural spirit found here are what make our neighborhoods feel like home. The Saint Baldrick’s Foundation

There is nothing more heartbreaking than a child facing cancer, and nothing more inspiring than a community that stands up to do something about it. We’ve been longtime supporters of the Saint Baldrick’s Foundation, helping to fund the researchers who are working tirelessly to find a cure. It’s a humbling reminder that even small acts—like head-shaving fundraisers—can provide immense hope to a family during their most difficult hour.

Visitation Academy

Empowering the next generation of leaders is a mission we hold close to our hearts. At Visitation Academy, young women are taught to lead with both confidence and compassion. We’ve had a blast sponsoring golf holes for their fundraising tournaments over the years, knowing that our support helps provide the resources these students need to grow into the world-changers of tomorrow.

One of my favorite days of the year is participating in Career Days at St. Mary’s Southside Catholic. Talking to these young men about the reality of a career in the trades—the stability, the skill, and the service—is an absolute privilege. By emphasizing responsibility and leadership, St. Mary’s is molding the kind of men we’d be proud to have on our team one day.

COCA (Center of Creative Arts)

Creativity is the heartbeat of a vibrant city, and COCA is the engine that drives it in St. Louis. From dance and theater to the visual arts, they provide people of all ages with a platform to express themselves. Sponsoring events like COCACabana allows us to help keep the arts accessible to everyone, ensuring that our community remains as creative and colorful as the people who live here.
